How to Use QR Codes to Generate Reviews

What are QR Codes?

QR codes are machine-readable codes consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by the camera on a smartphone.

When scanned, they open the stored URL on the user’s device – allowing them to interact with the page that is loaded.

How to Create QR Codes

There are multiple sites available for creating QR codes, some of which are free. Each different website allows different levels of customisation, so it is worth doing some research to find the best one for you.

For this example, we have used https://www.qr-code-generator.com/.

All you need to do to create a basic QR code is enter your chosen URL into the field provided, then click ‘Download’.

You will then receive your QR code, which can be used however you wish. In order for users to scan it they will need a QR code reader – there are multiple different versions around for this, and they can be found on the app store for your device.

How to use QR Codes

There are infinite possibilities for how QR codes can be used, as they are so adaptable. However, one of the most common uses for QR codes is in print advertising, such as on posters, leaflets and business cards.

QR codes used in advertising generally contain a link to one of the following:

  • Contact details
  • Product details
  • Offer details
  • Competition details
  • Social media links
  • Vouchers

Another great way to use a QR code is in the collection of reviews – this is also made even easier by Trustist!

Simply add your Trustist review collection link to the QR code generator, then use your custom QR code on any print (or online) correspondence you have with your customers and ask them to scan the QR code to leave you a quick review. This makes it even easier for customers to leave a review, as they can do it from their own device without needing to remember a website or link!

Timpson QR Codes

We recently began working with Timpson Group on their review collection. They have started using QR codes on their tills in store, and the amount of feedback they received has doubled as a result!

James Timpson, their Chief Executive, even tweeted to say how much easier QR codes made the review process – https://twitter.com/JamesTCobbler/status/1184108159192858624
